G.K. Chesterton is one of my very favorite authors. One of my all time favorite quotes of his reminds me of God’s joy. He writes,
“It may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we. The repetition in Nature may not be a mere recurrence; it may be a theatrical encore.”
Midweek days can seem mundane, and the relentless airings of political viewpoints in an election season can be mentally exhausting. On the other hand, the sunny days combined with the crisp air of fall is delightful. If I can remember to view my day as an opportunity to practice delight (like exercising a muscle perhaps) it makes all the difference.
